Company: Viracta Therapeutics
Job title: Senior Director Translational Medicine
My interest is to assist companies in the commercialization of science for the treatment and prevention of disease. Having started my career as a bench scientist and laboratory supervisor I understand the need for rigorous pre-clinical and clinical supportive data to advance clinical candidates. I am equally capable of setting up a team to work in-house or outsourcing critical path experimentation through collaboration with academic, government and commercial laboratories. In addition, I also understand the needs and process for successfully raising capital to enable a company to move forward through critical milestones that open the door for increased funding and new opportunities. My goal is to provide project management level support and direction when needed to solve problems as they arise so that good science becomes good medicine.
I believe I am well versed with all facets of drug discovery and testing, including target validation, assay design and implementation, in-vitro and in-vivo modeling, translation of the pre-clinical experience to an IND and the subsequent testing of clinical samples. I have successfully managed PhDs and associated technicians and have worked extensively with outside academic groups to provide independent validation of the company’s science. I have identified and contacted key opinion leaders to create an expert panel for review of the program’s progress and goals. I have also worked extensively with Clinical Development teams to present data to prospective clinical sites to assist in the initiation and enrollment of clinical trials and have directly assisted Business Development teams in finance and partnering related discussions both here and abroad.
